This article outlines the steps for importing student log entries, including PureData Powerschool Behavior Management extended fields, into PowerSchool. The process is broken down into three steps:

• Step 1 involves importing entries with PowerSchool's standard log entry fields. This creates all the entries in PowerSchool, which we will use in Steps 2 and 3 to update the extended fields.
• Step 2 is exporting the entries we just imported in Step 1.
• Step 3 involves adding the extended fields to the exported data and then importing this data to update the entries in PowerSchool.

By following these steps, you can import student log entries with PureData extended fields into PowerSchool.

Step 1: Import entries with PowerSchool standard log entry fields.

Note: This process will first create all the entries in PowerSchool, and we will use this information in Step 2 and Step 3 to update the extended fields for these entries.

Here are the steps:

1. Go to System and Page and Data Management.
2. Click Quick Import.
3. Select the Table: Log Entries.
4. Choose file.
5. Map the fields in the file to the corresponding fields in PowerSchool.
6. Import the data.

Now, you should have all the entries in PowerSchool.

Step 2: Exporting the entries that we just imported in Step 1.

Here are the steps:

1. Go to System --> Page and Data Management --> Data Export Manager (Export Data)
2. Select "Show All" under Category.
3. Choose "Log" under Export from.
4. Select the fields to export.
5. Apply filters to the data, if needed.
6. Export the data.

Step 3: Adding the extended fields so that we can import/update the entries in PowerSchool.

Here are the steps:

1. Open the exported data file from Step 2 in a spreadsheet program.
2. Add the extended fields, such as the points value, to each entry using a vlookup function.
3. Save the file with the updated data.
4. Go to System --> Page and Data Management --> Import Data.
5. Choose the file with the updated data.
6. Select "U_PDT_ACTIONS" as the import destination.
7. Map the fields in the file to the corresponding fields in PowerSchool.
   1. DCID --> U_PDT_ACTIONS.LOGDCID
   2. Points --> U_PDT_ACTIONS.PBIS_Behavior_Point
   3. Teacher Action --> U_PDT_ACTIONS.PBIS_Teacher_Action
   4. Teacher Action Duration --> U_PDT_ACTIONS.PBIS_Teacher_Action_Dur
   5. Admin Action --> U_PDT_ACTIONS.PBIS_Admin_Action
   6. Admin Action Duration --> U_PDT_ACTIONS.PBIS_Admin_Action_Dur
8. Select "Update Existing Record" under Selection.
9. Import the data.

That's it! Your student log entries with PureData extended fields should now be imported and updated in PowerSchool.

To verify that everything has been updated correctly, go to PureData Behavior Management Plugin --> Reports --> All Log Entries:

In this report, you should see all the entries, including the points value for each log.
