Why use Location/Event‑Based Tracking?

Speed: Scan a student ID once to check in and again to check out.

Clarity: Live totals show how many students are currently signed in and signed out.

Simplicity: Runs entirely inside PowerSchool; no external apps or exports required.
Important: This tracker does not update the PowerSchool Attendance table. It is intended for ad‑hoc monitoring, not for reporting daily attendance or state compliance.
Enable and configure the tracker

Sign in to the PowerSchool Admin portal.

From the start page, open PureData Attendance Plugin.

Click Setup, then choose Open Campus under Location‑Based Check‑In/Out.

Toggle Enable Scan – Admin to On.

Label: Enter a friendly name that will appear on the scanner page (e.g., Location/Event Check‑In).

Location(s): List each location or event, separated by commas (e.g.,
Gym, Lunchroom, Basketball Game, Off Campus). -
Click Save.
Using the tracker

Navigate to Location/Event Check‑In from the plugin home page.

Select the relevant location from the drop‑down list.

Scan or type a student ID/name to check them in. Scan again under Sign Out when they leave to check them out.

The live counter shows Total In and Total Out for that location or event.

Keep location names concise for faster searching on handheld scanners.

Run a quick export at day‑end for security logs, if required by campus policy.
